Episode 1: Welcome to Remember Who The King Is
Why This Podcast Exists (And Why We Believe It Matters)
Welcome to the very first episode of Remember Who The King Is.
If you’ve landed here, we’re glad you’re here.
Before we jump into Scripture, theology, and the kinds of conversations we believe can truly change lives, we wanted to begin with something simple:
Who are we—and why are we doing this?
Because this isn’t just another Bible podcast.
There are plenty of places online where people talk about the Bible.
But our heart behind this podcast is different.
We want to open God’s Word—not just to read it, but to truly understand it, wrestle with it, study it in context, and most importantly… let it change us.
Because here’s the truth:
A lot of people know about Scripture.
But far fewer people really spend time studying it, understanding the context, and allowing it to shape their daily lives.
That’s why every week, the three of us—just ordinary guys from different walks of life—are sitting down together to open the Bible and walk through it the way it was meant to be experienced:
In context.With honesty.And with real-life application.
Because Scripture isn’t just ancient history.
It’s part of your story too.
Meet the Voices Behind the Podcast
One of the things we wanted to do in this first episode was simply introduce ourselves—not as experts or people who have life figured out, but as men whose lives have genuinely been changed by God and His Word.
Donnie Prince: The Vision Behind the Podcast
The idea for Remember Who The King Is began with Donnie Prince.
Donnie is a Christian businessman, author, and someone with a deep passion for helping people discover the richness of Scripture. But what stood out most in this episode wasn’t credentials—it was honesty.
Donnie shared how difficult seasons in life, especially during the financial crash of 2008, deeply changed him. Businesses collapsed, uncertainty set in, and life suddenly became very hard.
And in the middle of it all, he turned to God’s Word.
Not casually.
Not occasionally.
But desperately.
As Donnie explained, the Bible became an anchor—something stable in a world where everything else seemed to be falling apart. Reading Scripture and eventually writing became part of how he processed hardship, held onto hope, and stayed grounded in faith.
His heart for this podcast is simple:
To encourage people to not just hear about the Bible—but to actually read it, discuss it, understand it, and experience it personally.
As Donnie said during the episode:
The Bible is not something people should read out of guilt.
It’s something people are missing out on if they don’t.
Mark Berry: Real Life, Real Faith, Real Grace
Mark’s story brought a different perspective—one filled with life experience, setbacks, faith, family, and God’s faithfulness through difficult seasons.
From business ownership and raising children to struggles, setbacks, and hard life moments, Mark shared honestly about how God continued showing up through it all.
One moment that stood out was when Mark described how God unexpectedly directed him and his son into the indoor air quality business—a business he still runs today.
After praying for direction for his son’s future, Mark woke up in the middle of the night with a clear sense of calling.
“We’re going into the indoor air quality business.”
That single moment eventually became a successful business and another reminder that God often works in ways we never expect.
But perhaps the biggest takeaway from Mark’s story was this:
God’s not finished.
No matter your age.
No matter your mistakes.
No matter your past.
There is still purpose.
Chad Muncy: Bringing Faith & Conversation Together
As worship pastor, creative communicator, and co-host, Chad shared his own heart for this podcast—creating a space where Scripture feels real, approachable, and applicable to everyday life.
After connecting through friendship and shared faith, what started as conversations eventually turned into something bigger:
A mission.
A belief that there are people hungry for truth—not surface-level conversations, but real discussions rooted in God’s Word.
And maybe more importantly:
A reminder that none of us have it all figured out.
We’re learning too.
We’re growing too.
We’re simply inviting you to walk alongside us.
Why Read Scripture In Context?
One of the biggest themes of this first episode was the importance of understanding Scripture as it was written.
Donnie made a powerful comparison:
Reading random verses of the Bible without context can sometimes feel like watching random scenes from a movie while skipping the beginning and ending.
You might understand pieces…
But you miss the bigger picture.
That’s why this podcast will move through books of the Bible intentionally—starting at the beginning and walking through them together.
Not skipping around.
Not taking verses out of context.
But reading and discussing Scripture as complete books with purpose, meaning, and progression.
What’s Coming Next: The Book of Matthew
Starting in Episode 2, we’re diving into the Gospel of Matthew.
And we’re beginning exactly where most people skip:
The genealogy of Jesus.
A long list of names.
A passage many people overlook.
But hidden inside is one of the most powerful stories of grace, redemption, brokenness, and purpose in the entire Bible.
As we begin walking through Matthew together, our hope is simple:
That you won’t just listen to us.
You’ll open your Bible too.
Take notes.
Read along.
Ask questions.
Study it for yourself.
And maybe, just maybe…
You’ll begin seeing Scripture in a way you never have before.
Join Us On The Journey
We don’t have everything figured out.
We’re not perfect.
We’re just three guys who know what it’s like to need grace, truth, hope, and something real.
And that’s exactly what we’ve found in God’s Word.
So whether you’re brand new to Scripture or have read the Bible your entire life—we’d love for you to join us.
